Keira Gunn
Keira grew up in Hamilton, Ontario and moved to British Columbia in 2009 to complete a master’s degree in Mathematics. She taught math at colleges in the Lower Mainland for nearly a decade before moving to Calgary to pursue a PhD. in Pure Mathematics.
Growing up, Keira's father was a member of United Steelworkers and she experienced firsthand the strength and sacrifices involved in collective bargaining. Through strikes and lockouts, she knows that working people have a voice when they stand together. Labour rights and protections for workers were a regular point of discussion in her household and she is extremely passionate about defending them.
Keira knows that working families are struggling to put food on the table and pay their bills. She understands that the federal government has a responsibility to help people through this cost-of-living crisis. She’s committed to making life more affordable by reducing costs on prescription drugs, child care, and housing in our community.
In her spare time, Keira enjoys jigsaw puzzles, ice hockey, and chasing her two kittens around the house.
