Keira Gunn
Calgary Confederation
Keira Gunn
Dr. Keira Gunn is a university instructor, and holds a PhD in Pure Mathematics from the University of Calgary. As a proven leader with a background in teaching and community organizing, Keira is passionate about solving complex problems and helping others.
During her studies, she became a leader by representing her fellow graduate student workers. Having been recognized and awarded by the campus community for her leadership abilities, she takes pride in supporting and empowering hard-working and undersupported people to their fair share.
Growing up in Hamilton, Keira’s father was a steelworker during the 90’s recession. Her family has first-hand experience of the sacrifices Canadians have to make to get by. Keira knows that working families are struggling to put food on the table and pay their bills. She understands that the federal government has a responsibility to help people through this cost-of-living crisis. She’s committed to making life more affordable by reducing costs on prescription drugs, childcare, and housing in her community.
Keira also understands the role the federal government has to play in protecting our Canadian public institutions, democracy, and protecting public health care as provincial governments allow privatization and increased fees for you and your family to be able to access care.
When she can find the time, you can find Keira on her bike or at the hockey rink.
Keira would be honoured to bring the voices of Calgary Confederation to Ottawa and finally put regular people back at the heart of our government.
